How Does Isagenix Work?

Suzanne Skillen
A Life Well Lived.

I believe that the only life worth living is a life of adventure, a life full of learning experiences. A life that is unafraid to follow your dreams and passions. That grabs every opportunity and that there are no limits to what we can do, be, create.

That whatever has happened in my past does not define me. This is not a rehearsal, this is the performance and it is up to each of us to dance it full out.

I also believe that I am 100% responsible for everything that is in my life and I am also 100% responsible for everything that is not in my life. It’s all up to me.

I believe in trusting my intuition and not comparing myself to others.

I learnt these lessons at a very early age.

Isn’t it interesting how often our biggest challenges are our greatest gifts?

As a a little girl my Mother constantly told me I was a “mistake” and how she had tried to get rid of me. Unconsciously she gave me a gift, I studied other Mothers so that one day when I was a Mother I would be different.

I dreamt of being a ballerina and acted out my dream everyday. I had posters, pictures and drawings of dancers all over my room. I danced everywhere and everyone in the village where I lived knew I was a ‘little dancer.”

However no one in my Family, except my little brother believed in my dream and when I was 10 years old I was offered the chance to audition for a famous ballet school in London. My Parents response was “Let’s take her and then she will realise she is no good”.

Have you ever had someone try to steal your dreams?

I knew it was all up to me and nothing and no one was going to destroy this opportunity of a lifetime.

I auditioned and was offered a scholarship to The Rambert School of Ballet in Notting Hill Gate. At the age of 10 I left home with all my hopes, dreams and ambitions packed into a little suitcase. Nothing was going to stop me.

It wasn’t a boarding school so I was placed with 7 different families in the 5 years I was at the school. From them I learnt lessons on parenthood, care and the power of the human spirit. Many of the things that happened in the school and in the homes I lived in would not be accepted now. Yet I knew that everything was up to me. Discipline, perseverance, tenaciousness and practice were all lessons I learnt during that time.

I was inspired by some great role models and a whole new world of the arts and creativity opened up for me. My teachers were eccentric, flamboyant and inspirational and I was equally scared and in awe of them all. By the time I was 15 years old I was chosen by the great Martha Graham, the innovater of contemporary dance, to be part of a school and company she established in London.

My love of dance gave me the opportunity to dance professionally as a ballerina all over the world. During these years I fell in love with travel, philosophy and languages.

When I retired from dancing it was a natural progression to become a Master Pilates teacher and personal trainer. I was privileged to study with many of the best teachers in the world including Lotte Berk, Alan Herdman and Gilda Marx.

I was invited to help set up a studio in London with the Formula 1 racing driver James Hunt. This was a studio for top athletes, celebrities, movie stars and aristocracy. I was fortunate to become the personal trainer to many of them including the late Princess Diana.

My love of health, wellness and the connection between the mind, body and spirit grew during this time and most of all I discovered how much I loved teaching, presenting on stage and helping others reach their goals.

Over the last 30 years I have lived and worked in 18 different countries and have lost track of how many places I have travelled to. Opening studios in London, Italy, USA, Asia, South Africa and Australia gave me the opportunity to meet hundreds of incredible people. Plus creating workshops and retreats and guiding walks into spiritual areas allowed me to combine my passions for meditation, Pilates, vision boarding, goal setting, delicious food, good company and travel.

My life has been more than I could ever have dreamt of for myself, living in castles, stately homes and super yachts in some of the most beautiful places on the planet. I am still a curious gypsy at heart and have a deep love for travelling and exploring other cultures. My suitcase is still packed with huge dreams and goals.

It has been a life of huge highs and equally huge lows, loss, grief and almost unbearable sadness. One of my greatest lessons has been that sometimes you have to loose everything to find yourself.

Being a dancer has given me the tools of discipline, practice and perseverance plus self belief. Meditation, self learning and a holistic life have always kept me strong.

One of the achievements that I am most proud of is that I am a Mother to Katie and Jason and that I have a beautiful loving Family of my own. I am also surrounded by love from young people that have come into my life through many different circumstances that all call me “Mum.”

On reflection I know that everything I have ever done has led me to where I am now. Helping others achieve their dreams to live a life of adventure and freedom. A life that is unafraid with no limits to what can be created, a life full of opportunity and potential.

“Inspired Life Revolution” gives me the opportunity to pay forward everything I have learnt and I am excited about this my 3rd Act.
